Date Night

Stephen and I were not the couple that went on 'dates'. We were the kind of couple that just did whatever, whenever. We used to have that kind of freedom. Stephen used to work for a company which wasn't that demanding in terms of hours and I used to be a uni student which meant free time wasn't hard to find.

The last couple of months however, that all changed. I started working full-time, and Stephen started his new job which, while being an amazing opportunity that he loves, also means that he is working longer hours. We thought we could handle this sudden shift in our weekly timetables. We quickly found out we were wrong. We went from seeing each other all the time, to seeing each other if we could, which wasn't often.

We didn't like this. Who would?

We are now a couple that has scheduled in 'date nights'. We have to, otherwise we wouldn't see each other. It's sad but its true. I honestly don't mind though. It gives me something to look forward to during my week.

Last week, I met Stephen after work in the beautiful Hyde Park. I watched boys skate and loved up couples walking around holding hands, kissing each others cheeks. Stephen managed to get out of work on time and ran to meet me in the middle of an art installation put up in the middle of the park. It was fun getting lost among the mirrors and what was greater was seeing his face light up 5 times in a row when we caught each others glance in the reflective walls. We then wandered over to the Night Noodle Markets and indulged in fine, oriental food before heading over to Timezone to play trashy arcade games (I secretly love them so much)

Booking in time together was actually great. It meant we didn't waste our time together sitting on our phones, playing games or catching up with Facebook. We spent every minute with each other, learning new things about the other and reminding ourselves why we continue to love each other.

Tomorrow night is date night again. It's Stephen's birthday too :) I have a feeling it will be a lovely night!

  2. These are some really great photos, as always! You've probably heard me say that enough on your blog, haha. It looked like a fun date night, and I can relate with not being able to spend a lot of time with your significant other. It is hard, but the more you miss each other, the more exciting it is when you do see each other!

And a big happy birthday to Stephen too! :)

    1. It was very pretty. I'm sure you can find a cute little nook in your town though. It's just a matter of finding the beauty in the simple things I suppose.

Thanks for stopping by Leah! Your blog is one of my favourites x
