Merry and Bright

I love this season.

I can't explain it but Christmas does something to people that no other holiday does.

The joy

The colours

The love.

Oh the love. That is what I adore the most. People are full of it and it brings a smile to my face.

My mother and I put up our tree last night. We are usually away at Christmas and never get to put up our tree so it means a lot that we had the opportunity this year.

This tree is nearly as old as me. We have owned it for as long as I can remember and although the branches have faded and the leaves have fallen, it will always remain our family tree. I love it. I love its age, its wear and tear. I love that it's not as tall as I remember it.

Christmas this year will be spent with my small family. My mum, my dad and my mum's aunt. Just the four of us, around a table, eating prawns and playing dominos. I don't have a huge family or a big celebration planned but there is something so perfect about that. Christmas isn't about how big your family is, or how many presents you get. For me it's about the love we choose to share with others, the joy shared among complete strangers and most importantly a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.

What a great time of year this is. How do you celebrate Christmas?

  1. What a wonderful tree! I am also so in love with this season, it's like there is something in the air, like a deep-red blanket covering the world, keeping our heats warm and our thoughts beutiful :)

  3. I love your photos! They look gorgeous. I love putting up the christmas trees. We have an old one, but it's perfect; nice and tall and lots of branches - yours looks great too! They don't make them the same nowadays :p

    1. I'm glad you feel the same way. I do love the newer trees but there is something so classic and great about having an old one - it's so nostalgic.
