Time to Rest

As the steam rises out from the pot, the aroma fills my senses and I can finally begin to wind down from a long day at work.

These moments are so precious to me. I am not yet married, nor a mother, nor a business owner and yet I can already feel the burdens of adult life weighing down on my shoulders. My anxiety comes and goes, day by day, but I must crusade through the mud to get to that sunlit field waiting for me. I know it's there.

That hour after I get home can be my absolute favourite. I kick off my shoes, throw my heavy bag onto the floor and massage my shoulders where those thick straps once lay. I boil some water, infuse some of the most beautiful flavours and relax in my own presence.

How often do you take time to rest? and I don't mean going to bed early, I mean scheduling in an hour or two of your day to switch off from work, social media, friends and family and rather spend time with just you; to absorb in all your thoughts from the day, to meditate, to release all the negative energy and to simply...

....breathe.

  1. Wow I love this. I definitely need to budget more "me" time. Life can be so stressful and you're right, it's important to rest and meditate. Thanks for sharing girl, your posts are always so inspiring!

  2. One of the things I'm really bad at is having rest time. It's not that I don't have enough time, but I'm just really bad at letting my mind rest and destress from the world, but it's something I'm trying to work on this year. Love the photos by the way!

  3. I think I do need to have a little bit more of 'me' time. The only 'me' time I get is when I blog, hence why I am so passionate about it.
    I love these photos. :)

  5. Love this. I suffer from anxiety as well so I always make sure to set aside a good yoga and meditation session in the mornings to get me through the day. Thanks for sharing!

  10. Such a good idea to just take time and relax. Away from computers phones, and just wind down from the day.

  11. You teapot and cup are so gorgeous. Are they from T2?
I don't often take time off everything. I go for daily runs and do stretches which I often consider my own time but I never really just sit down with a cup of tea and just drink it. I'm always reading or looking at pictures.
I should probably switch off more often.

    1. Yes it is from T2. I got it for my birthday last year - I am in love.

And don't worry, I'm usually the one just reading through blogs or my Facebook feed. I might have made it look easy but switching off is very tricky a lot of the time

  12. These are such lovely photos! Makes me want to go put on a pot of tea. Rest is one of my goals for this year.. though I've taken on a lot of cool things over the past few months, making me busier than ever, I'm determined to set aside a few hours a week just for me. I think it will do wonders for my productivity and sanity!

PS. Just happened upon your space here and I'm so glad I did! I love your writing and photography!
