Growth

From the second we are conceived we start to grow. We grow from one cell to two, to four, to eight, to sixteen and so on and so forth until we are created into little humans, born into a world we do not yet understand, a world that will feed us and nuture us into beings that reason, love and create.

Growth is occuring every second of the day. It is right inside you, in your core. You are constantly getting rid of bad cells and replacing them with new, improved, ios 7 worthy cells. We are also getting smarter. We are creatures that learn from our surroundings and adapt and develop to create the better outcome for our lives. We make mistakes but we try and avoid making those mistakes twice because we recognise pain and failure and naturally run in the opposite direction.

We form relationships. We meet people, we feel inspired, we fall in love and we make more little humans who grow and grow and grow. Nothing is certain, and the possibilities for life are endless, we must only let ourselves grow into our lives to discover what will unfold in the next chapter.

One thing is inevitable though; one day the growth will stop. One day we just will stop. The stars will align and life will take what it once so generously gave. Life is, indeed, fleeting. Many people describe it as a gift but I think otherwise. To describe it as a gift is merely a fraction of the truth. Life is an opportunity, it is an opportunity to use what we have as humans to make better what those before us couldn't. As we grow smarter and wiser and warmer of heart, we should give to others what life so generously gave to us - love, fulfillment, and hope.

We should be people of passion and inspiration. People who encourage growth rather than stunt it. People who see the light through the dark blanket that covers the earth and work hard to help others to see what they're capable of. People who love everyone even if they can't love them back because that is what is real. Money, possessions, brands, technology, these are not real, they are not human. What is human is the core of what makes us, us. Love, passion, reason, hope and beauty. We need only see that to understand.

Some things are certain; There is no growth without change,
No change without fear or loss, and no loss without pain;
Though, to you it may be unwelcome, and even strange-
Growth gifts a curative effect, and renders much gain;
Once we stop growing, we begin to wither,
Like a flower not provided sunshine or rain.
Ignorance breeds this refusal, yet lives not, hither;
I do not profess to know everything, nor would I deign-
So, why then would I refuse growth, when needed-
Why would I refuse the call for same, or leave it unheeded!?

Pain is said to be 'weakness leaving the body'
Though loss may be tragic, fear is a myth that self-perpetuates;
Change may be good; when we see it as less odd, we
We may be more open to growth, and all it obviates!

This post is dedicated to my favourite teacher, Mrs Smith, who passed away so tragically yesterday. You taught me so much about what it meant to grow in this world that surrounds us, you taught me to enjoy the opportunities that are given to me rather than avoid them while I strive for something bigger and grander. You helped me grow into the woman I am today and I am forever grateful for your sacrifive. I will miss you so much but just know that you're teachings will never be forgotten and will always have a place in my heart. Rest in Peace.
