There is always time though for the things we want to do. While I didn't get to go out and buy some art supplies, I
I grabbed my basket and went adventuring, looking for any colour that remained after the summer. I hadn't realised how long it had been since I explored my garden in this way. I used to collect flowers and shrubbery back when I was a little girl. I used to make 'fairy homes' with the flowers I collected and would leave them overnight so the magical creatures would have a place to sleep.
I took my finds inside and decided that I would make some pressed floral art for today's post. Again, this is something I haven't done in years and so it was wonderful to be sent back to a time where things were simpler. My phone was off and away from reach. It was just me, my flowers and my cat (who decided she wanted to get into floristry too).
The rich pinks and purples jumped off the page and into my soul and it made me sad to close those pages upon them. I placed the book under some encyclopedias and in a few weeks I will reopen that book once more, hopefully finding perfectly pressed blooms.
For now I am grateful for the time I made for myself to live simply. It's so important to switch off and immerse yourself in natural life. To take a bath, or a walk or a roadtrip, or simply a wander around your garden. As kids we had it right, we knew how to be happy and to be simple. Why did things have to change?
oh my gosh. *swoons* your stills + the light + the bokeh... absolutely fantastic! so so so lovely! xx

The ones with the cat are so sweet. I went looking for flowers the other day but then I realised that of course it is autumn and so there aren't as many flowers, you managed to find quite a few! :)

A nice set of photos. I used to press flowers with my kids when they were small. I still press them myself. I discovered a microwave flower press made from clay that gives instant results. Very satisfying. You can press the flowers and use them in your art the same day :) Wendy x
ReplyDeleteI've heard of those and Ive been meaning to get my hands on one. Adding that to my wishlist
DeleteJust goes to show that true beauty does lie within the earth, that we overlook every single day. Thank you for doing flowers and other blooms justice. x
