And it was 'good'

Weekend Snaps
1.2/ Breakfast pleasures
3.4.5/ Market wanderings
6.7/ Photoshoot sneak peek

Ah the weekend. It ends before it even begins.

I spent my days networking with fellow bloggers, enjoying the markets on a sunny winter's day and photographing my best friend for several hours.

It was a long weekend but it was good too.

Well I think it was good. I feel that term is so subjective these days. There were moments during the weekend where I felt as though I could fall off the face of the earth and no one would notice, there were moments were I shed some tears and there were moments where I was just not in the mood for anything or anyone. Yet, I felt as though the weekend was good. Does that make me crazy?

I feel a good weekend doesn't have to equate to a happy one. Perhaps a good weekend means one that is fulfilling and filled with purpose.

Perhaps, just perhaps, that is what makes for a good life?

I don't know, but I feel discussing the meaning of life may make my head turn to jelly and, on a Monday morning, that is something I want to avoid.

So tell me, what does 'good' mean to you? Does it mean happiness or success? or can you experience pain and heartache and still consider yourself in a good place?

  1. I can consider things "good" even if if I'm not in the (best) position. It's an art of optimism to find something good in everything, even if things aren't going your way. We have water , food, a roof over our heads. We have everything we really need, no matter what I'm always "good"

  3. These pictures are so great. And the definition of good is so hard to come up with. There's the normal good stuff, and then there's good as in bad, but you learnt something from it so you come out a better person...which can't be bad. Did that make any sense, haha?

  4. Sounds like my weekend! But the bad and questioning times are definitely good! Because when you find accomplishment or affirmation, you learn to trust yourself and self worth.

Oh and I am pretty excited to see the photoshoot, just so you know. <3

  5. I love these pictures, as well as everything you wrote! For me a good weekend has always involved achieving something, even if it's the smallest thing like learning a new recipe or getting out of bed to meet a friend. Obviously I can't always be at the highest point of my life so it's the little things that count, you know?

  6. What wonderful photos! A "good" weekend can mean a variety of things to me, sometimes it's indulging in a good book or magazine and going to cafes, since I am busy during the week. It sounds like you had a lovely time well spent.
Enjoy the rest of your week. /Madison

  7. Oh, sam. I feel the SAME way right now. I really feel like I could fall of the face of the earth and nobody would notice (a little dramatic, but hey, it's true).

These photographs are super sweet, and I cannot wait for the photos from the shoot. So talented, girl.

    1. Not dramatic if it's the truth. I would notice though

  8. Oh my gosh, Sam. You couldn't have phrased it any better. A good weekend, by definition, should constitute of self-fulfillment and enjoyment. Whether it be someone staying indoors all day or traipsing outside. (Yours is indeed productive though!)
As for life, I don't think we'll ever truly figure it out. Some things may be best left undefined.

    1. An undefined life I feel can lead to more opportunities. If we narrow it down to a specific definition, perhaps we are limiting what we can achieve.

  9. Gosh, this is so relatable. I ofthen find myself thinking the same thing when people ask me how I am, and I mechanically say "good". I guess sometimes to me it just means I'm not bad enough to state otherwise. And,there are times when that is "good" enough. Also, hese photos are beautiful!

  10. You are definitely right, I think the word 'good' is very subjective. I had a weekend filled with highs and lows, but overall I would still describe it as 'good'....I guess things can't always be perfect, but I would like it if they were just a little more often! Great blog, I have followed you with Bloglovin and GFC. If you ever get a chance to check out my blog I would be delighted, thanks!

  11. I am so excited to see these pictures of your lovely friend :)

I think a good weekend is just taking it easy, you don't necessarily have to do anything super exciting, as long as you aren't stressing about anything! :)

  12. I think a good weekend is probably relaxing or productive. doesn't necessary have to be happy, like you said. besides how do you know if your life is good if you never experience ups and downs? :)

  13. I'm going to have to think about that hahaa. good thoughts sam! and great pictures!

  14. I think a good weekend is one where there is enjoyment and the feeling that you don't want it to end.

  15. Good to me is closer to happiness than success. Good to me also had connotations of achievement. I like Good things so maybe it is something I associate with quality too?

Lovely photos and good thinkings. I like your blog very muchly x

  16. Once again I am blown away by your photography! The emotions you describe are something that I experience as well. I think that you are right in saying that a "good" weekend is one where you feel fulfilled afterwards. Your weekend may not be filled with fun plans but if you do things that leave you feeling accomplished afterwards I think it can be considered good. Like you said, the meaning of life is something I try not to dwell on too much- somethings are just too complex and need to remain a mystery :)
