Dark Shades and Pale Greys

My thoughts and prayers go out to the victim's families of flight MH17.

Tragedy has struck again in the world and it pains my heart.

I don't get why bad things happen. I mean I know they're inevitable, but sometimes I still question why?

It makes me appreciate the life I have, the life I should value more.

I don't have many words today, but I have a whole bunch of prayer to say and love to share with the people around me, the people I still have.

Please share some love today, even if it is only a little.

Life is fleeting after all.

I'm off on a little adventure this weekend. I will be back on Tuesday to hopefully share it all with you. For now, I'll leave you with some links for your Friday:
  • So I changed my layout a little. Do you like it? I'm open to suggestions. I also refreshed my twitter account, follow me - @sammheather
  • Also, I really want a cape. I am a little obsessed. How slick is this one!
  • Um...this wedding. Wow wow.
  • Can you spot me in this video? I want to go back to that night
  • Speaking of video, I've been into watching short films lately. Here are two I watched this week
    • This is a little depressing but I thought it raised great conversation about the nature of some relationships - See it here
    • This one is also about relationships but a little more amusing - See it here
  • I'll be top knotting it this weekend, will you?
  • Why aren't apps like this available in Android? I seriously need to update to iPhone.
  • Listening to this beauty at the moment. It's calming my soul.
  • I just want to run away and live here for a little bit. Is that too much to ask? Oh the joys and perils of wanderlust
What are your plans for the weekend?

  4. The world is a scary place. There are loads of lovely people but the psychos and evil people really make it a hard place to accept.

Anyway, the pictures are lovely. The last picture is my favourite but I love the dream-like colouring of the others too.

  5. The new layout is lovely and I love your black and whites. The world can be an awful place when messed up people do messed up things.

  6. black + white is seriously my FAVORITE. EVAH.
for some reason, it definitely brings out the more subtle elements to a photo, and it calms down my mind and makes me appreciate the small beauties. it's more serious, more somber, and I like that. ♥

  9. Oh, I'll never understand how bad things happen either. I suppose they're a strengthening mechanism. Nonetheless I feel life is about sharing love, whilst having your fair share. Other values like gratitude should be safely kept in mind too. x

  10. i love these photos so much!! and such sweet words. i JUST read a quote in angels & demons about bad things happening to good people which was awesome. so awesome that i'm obnoxiously going to paste the entire thing into this comment...

Lieutenant Chatrand: I don’t understand this omnipotent-benevolent thing.
Camerlengo Carlo Ventresca: You are confused because the Bible describes God as an omnipotent and benevolent deity.
    Lieutenant Chatrand: Exactly.
Camerlengo Carlo Ventresca: Omnipotent-benevolent simply means that God is all-powerful and well-meaning.
Lieutenant Chatrand: I understand the concept. It’s just… there seems to be a contradiction.
Camerlengo Carlo Ventresca: Yes. The contradiction is pain. Man’s starvation, war, sickness…
Lieutenant Chatrand: Exactly! Terrible things happen in this world. Human tragedy seems like proof that God could not possibly be both all-powerful and well-meaning. If He loves us and has the power to change our situation, He would prevent our pain, wouldn’t he?
    Camerlengo Carlo Ventresca: Would He?
Lieutenant Chatrand: Well… if God Loves us, and He can protect us, He would have to. It seems He is either omnipotent and uncaring, or benevolent and powerless to help.
Camerlengo Carlo Ventresca: Do you have children?
    Lieutenant Chatrand: No, signore.
Camerlengo Carlo Ventresca: Imagine you had an eight-year-old son… would you love him?
    Lieutenant Chatrand: Of course.
Camerlengo Carlo Ventresca: Would you let him skateboard?
Lieutenant Chatrand: Yeah, I guess. Sure I’d let him skateboard, but I’d tell him to be careful.
Camerlengo Carlo Ventresca: So as this child’s father, you would give him some basic, good advice and then let him go off and make his own mistakes?
Lieutenant Chatrand: I wouldn’t run behind him and mollycoddle him if that’s what you mean.
Camerlengo Carlo Ventresca: But what if he fell and skinned his knee?
Lieutenant Chatrand: He would learn to be more careful.
Camerlengo Carlo Ventresca: So although you have the power to interfere and prevent your child’s pain, you would choose to show you love by letting him learn his own lessons?
Lieutenant Chatrand: Of course. Pain is part of growing up. It’s how we learn.
    Camerlengo Carlo Ventresca: Exactly.

Pain is important in our lives, isn't it? It's a sad truth we must come to terms with.

      p.s. not obnoxious at all

  11. MH17 is so heartbreaking. There are so many messed up things going on.. it needs to change. I've been so full of prayer and thought about it. Your words and also your photos capture everything so well, and match your descriptions. On a brighter note, THAT. WEDDING. Oh my goodness... that's awesome. I just sent that to my boyfriend. So beautiful..
