Darkness of Rain

Sydney has been facing some tough rain lately. The days have become shorter, the light dims faster and the body starts to lag. Time slows and bones chill.

We were fortunate enough to not experience too much rain in New Zealand, but even when we did we found the beauty in the day. Rain darkens things but sometimes that darkness is itself a beautiful thing.

The mist came over the mountains and surrounded us gently and our breathe could be seen dancing through our lips as we talked. The coffee tasted better, the conversations were warmer, our scarves wrapped tighter and the fire burned brighter.

Things look so different in the rain, don't you think?

  8. With rain comes the most gorgeous light - everything seems a little more clear, a little more vivid. These photos make me want to cozy up under a warm blanket with a cup of coffee in hand! But realistically here, it's about 80 degrees and SUPER humid, so that might not be the best idea ;)

  10. Agreed. It's raining right now, actually. I live in Utah, so I feel like when it rains it adds this whole new dimension to it, since it doesn't happen too often. Although this summer it has been raining quite a bit. I love those two pictures of you standing in front of picnic tables. You're an amazing photographer!

  16. These pictures...I can't find the words! So evocative :-) Rain is amazing...it intensifies, it saturates. It makes inside seem cosier and outside seem more wild and beautiful. I get restless if it hasn't rained in a long time!

  18. Heck yeah. Things do look different in the rain.

It's different for me because it's peaceful, and for some reason for me it's a time to reflect.

Beautiful photographs. I need to go to NZ now.

I have always dreamed of going to NZ, and your beautiful photography reinforces my desire to do so.
