Sometimes we all need a little detour in our lives.
It can take the form of a vacation, or time off from work to relax and sleep, it can even just be a 15 minute walk every day.
Sometimes we just need to escape our daily life, forget all the drama and focus on something more beautiful.
A few weekends ago, my family and I headed up to Brisbane to watch my cousin commit her life to the love of her life. We spent our days relaxing in the city and it wasn't until I was there that I realised how much I needed this time away. We walked along the sunny streets, eating icecream and visiting museums. We drank coffee on the balcony and indulged in yummy desserts and we didn't care about the calorie count, not one bit. At night we ventured into Brisbane Festival and admired the beauty of fireworks. I seriously cannot get over their splendour.
Coming home was a little depressing but I felt refreshed and new, something I haven't felt in a while.
Sometimes it's the simplest trips that are the greatest.
Where was your latest detour in life? Where did you go to escape the madness of everyday?
I swear, through some of these pictures I thought you were back in Melbourne! (Shows how much I know my own city!)
ReplyDeleteBrisbane look lovely - I haven't actually been to Brisbane. Only the Gold Coast, and those fireworks! They're stunning!
Such beautiful pictures! I actually thought this was London for a little bit (mainly after seeing the big eye hah). We visited Brisbane a few years ago now, and I miss it so much!

I agree a little detour is sometimes what we need. My last detour was probably around April when a blogger I idolize invited me for her birthday dinner. It was surely unexpected and it was also really timely as I really needed one at the time. It opened me up to a lot of things, friendships and new bonds in particular. It was great and it made me realize that it's okay to get a little lost in an unfamiliar city. Somehow you make friends from the strangers you meet along the way.
ReplyDeleteAs always, all these photos are beautiful Sam. My favorite would probably be the one where you were looking out into the sea. :)
