Him.

it is common for me
to live in the future
to dream of terrace houses
with white walls
and succulent gardens
brown wooden baskets
and vintage rugs
a little puppy frolicking around
and a diamond ring

i dream always
and i live in the future
and sometimes that is a misguided thing

because sometimes i have my dreams in my arms
held close to me
nuzzled under my neck
kissing my cheeks
stroking my hair
and i don't see it

for he is here now
and he lives in the present
he enjoys what he has
and he makes the most of it
i am constantly striving for more and more
but he brings me back to the moment
to show me i have the 'more' i yearn for

i am blessed with him
and i don't always see it
i am blind
for he is there
always
just being him, not anything more

i want to stop dreaming
so i can start living
so i can watch our future unfold
day by day
rather than dream by dream

it's a scary thought
because i like my plan
but he holds me tight
intertwining his fingers with mine
and tells me that the Lords plan is far greater
than i could ever imagine

and perhaps he is right.

  3. you two are adorable. <3

while i'm not in a relationship everything you said i can relate with. i'm always living dreaming of the future instead of just enjoying the moment's blessings.

  5. Sam, I'm with you. I daydream, a lot. I hope and I wish for a full future, and spend a lot of my time thinking. Not really doing. My boy is the opposite - very much someone who lives in the present, but does so in a way that is shaping our future together. I'm so grateful to him. For him. He is my anchor.

Here's to your man. To our men <3 And here's to you, for sharing these words.

  15. Beautiful beautiful beautiful. Beautiful!

    "i want to stop dreaming

    rather than dream by dream"

that really hit me. Joy really is a matter of gratitude, of living here, now. I used to wish for marriage and a home and now that I have marriage and a home I dream of renovating the home. Or maybe just selling it and taking a year off the explore the world. Or, you know, whatever it is that pinterest tells me I need to do that week. haha but isn't it so great to have a partner who knows how to ground you? Such a blessing. You two are so well suited. At least, in photos! I imagine in real life as well ;)

    1. Joy really is felt when you live in the present. It rushes past us if we're not careful. We need to hold onto it and live in it and embrace it. Easier said than done for someone like me but it is a lesson I am slowly learning.

P.s. Pinterest does not help in any way! haha

  16. Beautiful and perfect are the only two words that describe this post. I'll be completely honest though, "i dream always and i live in the future and sometimes that is a misguided thing" really got to me.

  17. This is so beautiful. I feel like I can relate because it's easy for me to often look past the present and dream about the future and better things to come, although the present is so beautiful as it is. I'm so glad I stumbled upon your blog! <3
