April thoughts

I'm back at work today after a long and relaxing Easter weekend.

The last four days seemed to move so slowly, which I haven't been able to say about a weekend in a long while. Over the weekend, I housesat for some friends and spent my days drinking tea, eating chocolate, sleeping in and visiting various friends. I worked when I could but for the most part I took the time to just live in the moment, to say yes to more things and to embrace whatever came my way.

It was a good break to say the least.

And now, just like that, we're full swing into April. We turned the hours back and now the days are shorter and the wind is cooler and the pyjama pants are longer. A welcome change.

This month I hope to prepare for for the rest of the year, which is looking to be exciting. There are weddings to attend, job opportunities on the horizon, an overseas trip to New Zealand that has been booked and several projects I can't wait to get started on.

I feel there are a lot of things coming towards me and while that makes me excited and giddy, there is a part of me that is restless. Sometimes I feel like I'm walking on an open road with no idea of when I'll reach the end. I sometimes feel confused as to how long I should rest for and whether or not I should take a detour to here or there. And then theres moments when I know exactly where I'm going but the road to get there seems too long to even start upon.

I so often need to remind myself that there is a time and a place for everything. That moving slowly is still moving and no matter what I'm doing, this is the right time for it and everything else will come, just as long as I'm patient and I embrace the journey as much as I do the destination.

I need to stop rushing and enjoy whatever time it is now. For me that is enjoying a few interesting Huffington Post articles and researching prices for a new camera body.

What time is it for you right now?

"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace."  Ecclesiastes 3:1-8(NIV)

  1. I feel super giddy and restless too like a lot of magical things are about to unfold :) Glad you have a nice Easter!

  2. ooohh that trip to new zealand sounds amaaaaazing! amen to taking time and not rushing. I definitely need to remember this.

  3. Right now-
deciding whether to save up for a new lens, buy a ticket to a photo workshop, or pay someone to help rebrand my blog! All good things, but I'm having a hard time prioritizing. I'm leaning towards rebranding.

    1. oh all are so hard! what lenses do you have currently?

Rebranding is something I am in the middle off too...I'm being lazy though and not getting around to it. You need to figure out what is most important to you and once you have this acquired thing, will you gain the most opportunity from it compared to the other items on your list. Good luck!

  4. Why are you getting a new camera body?!?!!!!!!

  5. I feel the same way - my life is at a standstill and there seems to be a lot of waiting, but it's like I'm approaching a massive mountain I know I have to climb but I'm just stuck in the packing and preparation stages. I'm really quite frustrated and bored at the moment. I'm quite looking forward to the feeling of being at the top of the mountain, even if I'm not ready to climb it just yet.

    1. Can I come join you on that mountain and we can psych each other up to climb it?

  6. Your April sounds exciting. I hope it's amazing for you.

    Happy Belated Easter! :)

  7. That is one of my very favorite passages and books of the Bible!

  8. Oooh, you're coming to New Zealand?! WHEN?! Where are you going?! I live in Auckland, New Zealand. This is so exciting!
