Artful Blogging

I feel like these days I have more draft posts than I do published posts.

My life is taking a shift and I'm forced to reprioritise the way I work and the way I spend my time off.

Turns out being an adult is a lot more challenging than I expected but it is also way more rewarding. I'm learning how to make a life for myself rather than a life that is given to me from my parents. I am forced to stray away from routine and set hours and move towards self-motivation and finding a rhythm that may not work for others but works perfectly for me.

It's a strange thing and often I wonder what the point of it all is.

Though today is different. Today I'm starting to understand why we all do what we do. Being a creative, it is hard to measure success. Creativity is so subjective and so many people are doing the exact same thing I am doing. It makes it so hard to feel accomplished.

Last night though, the latest issue of Artful Blogging arrived on my doorstep. I've been working with the publishers for a little while now and while I knew my name, my writing and my photos were going to be published it never felt more real until I flipped through the magazine myself. It's a surreal feeling and one I'm so very thankful for.

I think I need to learn to relax and to just go with the flow. I stress too much and worry too much and finally when I am relaxed I feel guilty for it. I need to enjoy the good things in my life and remember why they feel like home to me. That's why this blog is here. It is a place I can come home too. A place where I can open the doors and windows and invite all of you inside for some tea and lamingtons. It's a home for you as much as it is for me and it's times like these which make me really appreciative of that.

Thanks to Stamington Company and Artful Blogging for publishing my work. It is so undeserved but so appreciated! Please go and get your hands on a copy of this wonderful magazine. Not only does it feature yours truly but it contains so many incredible articles from admired writers, bloggers and photographers alike. Click here to buy one for yourself.

  4. I'm with Shy, not undeserved at all, Sam - you produce beautiful creations that you pour heart and soul into; that is totally deserving of recognition. The piece looks stunning - a huge congratulations to you.

And I'm with you on the wanting to just go with the flow. It is something I am working on every single day - constant reminders and nudges - but I'm determined to one day wake up and find it's become habit - a part of my nature. Here's to you doing the same <3

  5. I can't tell you how much I relate to everything you're saying here. It feels good to know I'm not alone in the struggle that balancing adulthood can sometimes (not always!) be.

A huge (and completely deserved!) congrats on the publication! You are amazing, my dear!
